Spring Conference
At the 2010 Spring Members Conference, TechAssure agencies will be able to shoot a short video for free for future use on their website. You can do a welcome message, a recruiting video – whatever you like – courtesy of Greenworks Video.
Greenworks will have a separate green-screen room set up in the Omni Hotel. You can shoot during lunch, at the end of the afternoon session (before dinner) and on Wednesday morning before you leave. Please email John Love with your preferred time and any questions.
Director/Writer Brian Doubleday of Greenworks will work with you but has the following suggestions:
Video Prep 101:
Writing the script
Your 30 second video which can be anything you want (although as you’ve heard, we suggest you use it to welcome visitors to your website), puts a face on your company and can set a positive, dynamic tone with your visitors, especially those first time visitors. In general remember to focus your message on your customer’s needs, and not just on your company.
Intro Thirty seconds will allow you to welcome them, and give a tag line to your agency’s marketing message, i.e. “Welcome to Tech Assure—the non-profit organization for insurance and risk management professionals”.
Body The body of your message explains in general terms how working with will help them solve a problem. Your website is most likely divided into areas of specialization, and you can highlight each of these and send visitors to the right area for them. Or you may talk about a truly unique online service your site offers. The whole point of this introductory video is to get them to “drill down” into your site for more information.
Outro Finally, you end with a very quick close that invites them into your website—and you can leave them with a challenge, a promise, or any statement that you feel describes the essence of your service. (For example: “I invite you to see for yourself why we’re called the _______ agency”—-Cheesy, I know, but you get the point)
Important Note: 30 seconds equals about 70 words, depending on your speaking style. Once you’ve written out what you’d like to say, read it and time it. Most likely you’ll have to cut it down. You’re welcome to email your draft, or any questions to me at brian@newwestmedia.tv and I will get back to you. We’ll have a teleprompter there, so you don’t have to memorize it!
Wardrobe It’s up to you to decide the image you’d like to present—formal, casual, or something in between—but no greens, blacks or whites.
We look forward to meeting you and helping you get your video career underway!
